With a low mean fiber diameter (often 17.5-19.5 microns), it provides inherent softness without itch. Its hygroscopic core absorbs 30% of its weight in moisture vapor, moving it away from the skin for rapid evaporation; a 50% Merino blend dries up to twice as fast as a comparable cotton blend.

Merino wool is a superior technical fiber for outdoor performance due to its unique protein structure. With a low mean fiber diameter (often 17.5-19.5 microns), it provides inherent softness without itch.
